Trip

Every part of this trip has been beyond exciting for me. This is my first time ever being in Alabama, so I did not know what to expect from it. Meeting Auburn University’s My A+ Math team in the Educational and Assistive Technology Laboratory for the first time was awesome. My working environment is one of the reasons why I am pleased with this summer’s research experience. One of the members of the My A+ Math team is an undergraduate student, Brandon, who will be graduating next semester. Another member of the team is a graduate student, Derek, who also plans on graduating soon. With my working space is all set up, focusing on this project has been easier and comfortable.

The most enlivening moment of my trip this summer so far would be when I first heard of my research’s objective for the summer. Aiding students with vision disabilities by the use of assistive and innovative technology is something I have always wanted to contribute in. The idea was slightly overwhelming, but the vision My A+ Math team and I have set is optimistic and the results of it will be rewarding. Likewise, getting to share touristy moments with other friends I have met on campus just makes this whole experience surreal.

Living in one of the residence halls at Auburn University has been very convenient and safe! I am sharing a dorm with Sofia who is doing math related research this summer at Auburn University.

The campus offers a free two hours bike system that I can use as well as a free shuttle service. When I need to do some grocery shopping I like to use this form of transportation. Also, Derek and Dr. Marghitu's husband have been very generous by taking me to Walmart to buy groceries as well.
